Murder Investigation Launched After Boy Killed by 'Zombie-Style' Knife in Woolwich

Preventing Knife Crime

A tragic incident unfolded on Eglinton Road, Woolwich, where a 15-year-old boy was fatally stabbed with what police describe as a "zombie-style knife." Emergency services arrived at the scene around 18:30 BST on Sunday, but despite efforts, the young boy succumbed to his injuries.

Witnesses report hearing the boy pleading, "Don't let me die," as neighbours rushed to his aid. A woman who tried to save him described a "massive pool of blood" and attempted to stem the flow until paramedics arrived.

Det Ch Supt Trevor Lawry of the Metropolitan Police said: "Once again, a child’s life has been cut short by knife violence. We are committed to removing these dangerous weapons from our streets."

This incident comes on the eve of new legislation set to ban "zombie-style" knives and machetes in England and Wales, closing loopholes in existing laws. These knives, often glorified by criminal gangs, have blades over 8 inches in length with serrated edges.

As the investigation continues, police are urging anyone with information or footage to come forward. The community, still in shock, mourns the senseless loss of another young life to knife crime.

At Knives 4 Lives, we echo the call for action—not just in response to violence but in taking proactive steps to prevent these devastating events. Let’s work together to make sure this never happens again.
