Brentwood Murder Investigation Launched Following Fatal Assault

Reducing Knife Crime

A murder investigation has been launched after a serious assault in Brentwood earlier today, Thursday, 12 September.

Police were called to an address on Ingrave Road shortly after 3:30pm following reports of an assault. Emergency services, including the air ambulance, attended the scene where a man was tragically pronounced dead. His family has been notified.

Ingrave Road is currently partially closed, and officers are expected to remain at the scene throughout the night as investigations continue.

A 38-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody. The investigation is being led by the Serious Crime Directorate.

Detective Inspector Lisa Hurrell stated, “This incident took place on a busy residential street, and we understand how alarming this must be for the community. Our officers responded to the scene within two minutes, and an arrest was made just over an hour later. We are continuing our enquiries at pace, and officers will be present in the area overnight.”

Police are urging anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who may have dashcam or CCTV footage from the area to come forward. Reports can be submitted through the Essex Police website or via the 24-hour Live Chat service available on their homepage.
