In the early hours of Friday morning, a tragic stabbing incident occurred in Putney, southwest London. A 75-year-old man was tragically stabbed to death. The police were called to a property on Deodar Road at around 3:36 am following reports of a stabbing. Despite the efforts of the London Ambulance Service, the elderly man was pronounced dead at the scene.

A 30-year-old man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder. The suspect, believed to be known to the victim, remains in police custody while the investigation continues. Detective Superintendent Amanda Mawhinney from the South West Command Unit stated, "We are currently supporting the family of a man. He was sadly killed in the early hours of this morning. We believe this to be an isolated incident and there is no wider threat to the public."

The police urge anyone who was in the area at around 3 am to come forward. They ask if anyone saw or heard anything unusual. A post-mortem examination is scheduled to take place, and formal identification of the victim is pending.
