Upon arrival, officers discovered the man with suspected stab wounds. Despite efforts by paramedics, he was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three individuals have been arrested on suspicion of murder: a 21-year-old man, a 32-year-old man, and a 19-year-old woman.

Det Ch Insp Joanne Kemp stated, "This tragic incident has understandably left our community deeply shaken, and we are working diligently to uncover the full details of what occurred."

She assured that the victim's family is receiving support and acknowledged that footage related to the incident is circulating online.

“We urge the public to remember that a grieving family is at the heart of this investigation,” she added. "Please refrain from sharing the footage or speculating about the circumstances on social media."

Several roads in the area, including Burton Road between the Castle Close junction and its junction with Cliffe Lane, were closed following the incident. Rotherham Road at the same junction and footpaths around the Iceland store were also cordoned off. Some closures remain in place as the investigation continues.
